What is CN billing?
Every corporate client gives you consignment numbers (CNs) throughout the month. CN billing is the practice of recording those numbers against the right client before you upload DTDC DSR/Excel data. Without it, billing staff scramble at month-end to remember which CNs belong to whom.
The old way: Excel CN lists
Many Franchises keep one Excel file per client, or one master sheet with tabs. Problems: version conflicts, no link to upload sessions, and CNs that never make it onto an invoice because they were on someone's desktop.
The Courier Billing way
- Open Client Bookings (Daily Entries) and pick the client.
- Enter or paste CNs as shipments arrive—use range fill for bulk corporate lists.
- When Booking Data uploads for that month, matching CNs assign automatically.
- Generate GST invoices from the same session with assignments already in place.
See the dedicated CN billing landing page for feature overview.
Walk-in CNs are different
Counter walk-ins use Walk-in Bookings—CN plus price per day. Those feed walk-in profit in Analytics when booking data matches. CN billing for corporate clients and walk-in entry solve different problems; both live under Daily Entries.
Getting started
Add clients with HL/CPDP codes first, then start saving CNs for the current shipment month. On upload day, you spend time fixing exceptions—not rebuilding lists from memory.
